In the case of Leo VS Aries

Between two of my friends theres been a small argument started about who rules the western zodiac. thier Aries and Leo naturally. But you come to think about it, it is a very interesting argument. The corrasponding western and eastern zodiac signs will be the white and black kings (of a chess board) but heres the problem....
Dragon (King obviously) corraponds to Aries
Leo corrasponds to monkey.

Now thers no doupt that the dragon is king but can a Ram really beat out a Lion, and if the lion is king then really monkey vs dragon o.O That monkey better be king kong or it wont stand a chance.

Now for the question who rules the along side the dragon. The lion (Who was the other symbol of middleage war next to the Wyvern) Or the Ram which corrasponds the dragon.
It really all comes down to science vs mythology
